IDs in Apple Wallet are anticipated to shortly arrive in these two regions.

Apple revealed plans to support digital IDs in Apple Wallet at WWDC 2021.

This feature's acceptance has been sluggish, and as of the previous week, it is only available in five states—Ohio being the most recent addition.

According to a 9to5Mac article on Monday, Wallet support for digital IDs is anticipated to be released shortly in California, Apple's native state. After that time, we've also heard that Tennessee and Iowa are the other two states testing the equipment.

Tennessee and Iowa are both working diligently on adding support for IDs in Apple Wallet, a source informs 9to5Mac. A source acquainted with the function's development claims that Tennessee and Apple came to an agreement to support the feature last summer.

According to a second source, Iowa reached its agreement before Tennessee did. Although Iowa now has its own digital ID system in place, it is not yet Apple Wallet compatible. Although Tennessee is working on creating its own digital ID program, it is not yet open to the general public.

Tennessee is reportedly in the "final steps of finalizing the digital program," according to an ABC24 article from March.

When Tennessee and Iowa will formally begin offering support for IDs in Apple Wallet is unknown. Of course, it's possible that the states testing support for IDs in Apple Wallet will eventually decide not to implement the feature.

Dealing with government institutions spread across several states makes it difficult to anticipate what might occur.

As things stand, however, we anticipate that Tennessee, Iowa, and California will be among the next states to introduce support for IDs in Apple Wallet.

According to Apple, certain TSA checkpoints at many US airports currently accept ID cards stored in Wallet. Additionally, "selected businesses and venues" accept digital IDs; however, the exact list of businesses may differ.

Even if a person has a mobile ID on their iPhone, the majority of states, including Ohio, still demand that they carry their actual driver's license or identification card.
