A Texas man passes away and a lady is electrocuted in a hot pool at a resort in Mexico.

Authorities and local media reported on Wednesday that a Texas man had died and a lady had been hurt after they were electrocuted in a hot tub at a resort in northwest Mexico. The attorney general's office for the state of Sonora said in a statement that the 43-year-old male and the 35-year-old lady were shocked by a "electric discharge" while they were in a Jacuzzi. According to officials, the event happened in a private condominium complex in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, on Tuesday at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The pair, who were both in a Jacuzzi at the Sonoran Sea Resort when they were electrocuted, were named by CBS affiliate KDBC as Jorge Guillen and Lizette Zambrano of El Paso. Video of the incident's aftermath was released by KDBC and local media. It seems to show people gathered around a hot tub, some of them yelling, while someone is attempting to give chest compressions to a person who is lying on the ground.

According to the couple's family, Zambrano's health is still critical, as reported by KDBC. As of Thursday morning, the couple's GoFundMe had raised over $21,000.

According to the GoFundMe, Jorge "had a heart of gold and was always there for family and friends." "The love they shared was one for ages."

According to KTSM of El Paso, a witness informed detectives on the scene that she attempted to enter the Jacuzzi after noticing the pair was not responding. However, she was startled as she attempted to do so and decided to phone for assistance. To "determine the origin of the electrical failure," investigators will endeavour, according to the attorney general's office, which also promised to provide more details later.

The Sonoran Sea Resort boasts adult and family Jacuzzis in addition to three beachside swimming pools, according to their website. From Phoenix, Arizona, the travel takes roughly four hours. A worker in Phoenix died in June of last year from what seemed to be an electrocution while working on a hot tub inside a fitness centre.
